“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” - Carl
Jung

This quote is how I approach therapy as a counselor. We all come too counseling with a past. My hope is together we will walk side by side as you learn that you are so much more than what has happened to you. I hope to have the privilege to help empower you as you choose who you want to be in life.

My name is Alyssa Brooke Thompson. I prefer to go by “Brooke”. I graduated with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 2018 and then pursued and completed my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2020. While in school, I worked with individuals with various diagnoses ranging from depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma to helping those with severe psychosis. I love working with people and helping them regain their love for themselves and find hope in what they may feel is a hopeless situation.

The populations I love to work with are children, adolescents, and adults. I have almost 3 years experience counseling children using play therapy interventions between the ages of 4 to 10.

I effectively work with:
• Behavioral issues
• Anxiety
• Depression
• ADHD
• Trauma
• Life changes
• Communication skills
• Self-care
• Anger management
• Relational issues
• Self-esteem
• Grief

When working with these difficulties, I utilize varying evidence-based theories, techniques, and interventions. I enjoy collaborating with my clients and determining what intervention works best for them. I do not have a “one size fits all” approach. I tailor sessions to my clients and their individual needs. I am a fully licensed LPC. I have 8 years’ experience working with children ranging in ages from birth to 13 years old.

Lastly, I have a large family and they mean the world to me. Also, I am a dog mom to a sweet but feisty Dachshund named Izzy.
