Mary Whiting is a certified Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, supervised by Dr. Scott Peters LPC-S, who received a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Texas at San Antonio and a BS in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University. She finds purpose and meaning in sharing others’ burdens. When working with clients, her focus remains on hope, purpose, and practical application-based skills.

Mary has been married for over 20 years, has 4 biological children, and through the foster care system and foreign exchange program has been able to parent over 16 additional children from several months to several years. Mary understands the multitude of concerns that can arise in family life and is excited to help others navigate this challenging journey.  With so much hands-on experience, she is adequately equipped to handle child, adolescent, young adult, and adult counseling in an individual, couple, family, or group setting.

Mary’s past experience includes work with anxiety, depression, relocating, bullying, suicidality, addiction, and minor to severe trauma including sex trafficking. Mary genuinely loves people and thinks everyone has value and is the biggest advocate in exploring your unique identity and worth. She respects the cultures and beliefs that each person brings with them into the counseling room and creates goals and treatment plans specific to your values. She uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Relational Cultural Therapy (RCT) with techniques from each of the counseling modalities that will best fit her clients’ needs. She is excited to work with you on your journey to a better way of being.
