Amanda King, M Ed., NCC, LPC Associate
Supervised by Nancy Asher LPC-S, RPT
With more than 17 years of experience in the field of mental health, I bring a compassionate, practical, and client-centered approach to counseling. I have served as a professional school counselor since 2012, working with children, adolescents, families, and young adults and gaining a deep understanding of the social, emotional, and developmental needs of my clients. I also have experience working with children with a variety of disabilities as a special education teacher.
I earned my master’s degree in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012, where I started my counseling work. My family and I have happily called Texas home since 2015 and recently settled in the Boerne area.
I focus on providing individual therapy and play therapy and welcome clients of all ages—including children, adolescents, and those who are “children at heart.”
My therapeutic approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative and supportive process where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. When working with children, I incorporate play therapy to create a safe and engaging environment where children can express themselves, build coping skills, and work through challenges in ways that feel natural to them.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, I am currently practicing under the supervision of Nancy Asher, LPC-S, Registered Play Therapist. I look forward to partnering with clients and families as they navigate life’s challenges, discover their strengths, and work toward their goals.
