Katrina “Kat” de los Santos, MS, LPC, NCC
One of my favorite quotes was said by Dolly Parton, “Storms make trees take deeper roots.” I believe that although trauma and hardships can change us, they do not have to define us. From struggle comes resiliency, strength and growth. My goal is to empower clients to grow and learn from tough experiences and to heal the wounds their struggles may left behind. I am passionate about helping clients to achieve their goals, whether their goals are to heal from trauma, learn some new skills, or to get emotional support. I believe that even though therapy can take some dedication and hard work, it can be fun and rewarding too! I look forward to meeting you and hearing your stories.
I have been in the mental health field since 2017 and graduated with a masters in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling. I am currently licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Dakota, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. I am also currently working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist. My passion and specialization includes working with youth, teens, and young adults (ages 2+) who have experienced trauma and adverse experiences. I also enjoy working with parents on attachment and learning parenting skills. I most often utilize evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, and art depending on the needs of the client. I have experience working with youth and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, self-harm, suicidality, oppositional behaviors, sexualized behaviors, and special needs.
