Josh Lopez LPC Associate
Supervised by Amy Hutchinson, LPC-S, RPT-S
Hi! I’m Josh. Thanks for taking the time to ead a little about me. For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in wellness, the brain and body, and I have always wanted to do something to help others. That has led me to study and earn degrees in both Psychology (BS from Texas State and MS from UTSA) and Counseling (MA from Texas A&M University - San Antonio), and along the way I worked as a personal trainer, a researcher, as a teacher, and 15 years as a school counselor.
Beyond my degrees I have also completed a Play Therapy Certification, and training in Trauma-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI 101), and enjoy learning and continuing to expand my knowledge and skillset.
I approach counseling from a person-centered and holistic approach integrating skills and concepts from various frameworks including Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness and Play Therapy. I aim to help guide my clients in discovering, understanding, processing, and managing their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in order to improve their health and experience of life.
At Olive Branch, I have loved having the opportunity to work with and help children, teens, and adults. I work with clients ages 6 and up, including teens and adults, that may be experiencing trouble related to:
- Trauma
- Anxiety/depression
- ADHD
- Life changes
- Stress
- Relationship concerns
- Parenting
- Other emotional and behavioral concerns
