Nichole Cardona, Licensed Professional Counselor
Hello! My name is Nichole Cardona and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I have treated a wide variety of patients with various issues including depression, anxiety, shame, grief, ADHD, life transitions, LGBTQIA+ issues, Bipolar disorder, personality disorders, SUDs, co-occurring disorders etc. I am comfortable working with clients of all ages, but specialize in working with teens, young adults, and adults.
My approach to therapy is humanistic/person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed. In practice, I conduct counseling from a Relational-Cultural framework, often integrating techniques from Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Attachment theory, Somatic therapy, Mindfulness & Internal Family Systems. I also have experience and background in college & career advising.
I have a special interest in helping people navigate existential issues, depression, anxiety, religious trauma, queer issues/topics, neurodiversity, shame/guilt, & relationships. As part of the LGBTQ community, I am committed to advocating for social justice and continuing to grow and learn ways to empower our community. That being said, I am LGBTQIA+ affirming sex-positive. I have lived experience in dealing with religious trauma, guilt/shame and spirituality. I am comfortable working with those who are both exploring their sexual orientation and/or how to integrate spirituality/faith into their lives and those who are unsure. I see you & I am here for you!
Lastly, I encourage you to be a rebel & an explorer. I believe the first key to getting unstuck is to get curious! It’s easy to fall into the trap of believing that avoidance is how to survive through life, but the truth is that you deserve more. You deserve to thrive and explore yourself as a human with many facets and many experiences that encompass who you are. You deserve to honor yourself in all of your failures and all of your success, in every season of your life. Through curiosity and knowledge, we can empower ourselves to create meaningful change and to rebel against all the messages that try to convince us to abandon ourselves. This is my life’s mission & I would be honored if you allowed me to explore alongside you.
